The Xueye Lake Public Diplomacy Forum was held last Saturday in Jinan, E China’s Shandong. Local foreign affairs have increasingly become a basic force for comprehensively promoting the building of major-country diplomacy with characteristics, an important support force for national diplomatic strategic planning, and a pioneering and leading force for implementing local strategies for opening up and development.

About 300 people from foreign affairs systems of Shandong, Henan, Shanxi, Ningxia and Qinghai, and foreign affairs think tanks, social organizations, enterprises and colleges and universities attended the meeting.

For the first time, the forum launched two public diplomacy entities, the project of Shandong Public Diplomacy Institute and the project of Shandong Office of Charhar Institute, which will gather high-end academic resources and boost the promotion and exchange of public diplomacy in Shandong province.

As a major economic and cultural province, Shandong will continue to implement Xi Jinping’s Thought on Diplomacy, build a new high ground in China’s public diplomacy, build a high-end dialogue platform, carry out exchanges in river basins, strengthen cooperation in cultural representation, deepen economic and trade exchanges, tell the Shandong story well, and make greater contributions to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
