The activity of “Friendly Shandong Remarkable Shandong” expats experiencing Shandong was held recently in Tai’an Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone. 11 expats visited Taishan Press and Publishing Town, a typical development model of the press and publication industry.

Taishan Press and Publishing Town is located by Tianyi Lake in Tai’an Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone. It covers the entire industry chain of news publishing, including publishing, printing, distribution, warehousing, and logistics. At first, the expats visited the smart exhibition hall of Taishan Press and Publishing Town, where the origin of Chinese ancient printing technique as well as its history of development and dissemination were displayed in the form of pictures and text.

In the exhibition hall, there are representative and collectible printing equipment, books, and documents. With the introduction of the guide, they gained a brief understanding of China’s movable type printing technique.

Afterwards, the expats came to the movable type printing experience area, where they could immerse themselves in the unique culture of Chinese printing. Under the guidance of the instructor, they personally experienced movable type printing, and quickly mastered the techniques to create their own prints.

MOHAMMED HASAN MOHAMMED AHMED AL-MLAWI, an expat from Yemen, expressed his particular interest in movable type printing. He mentioned that it was his first time experiencing movable type printing and found it very fascinating. AYAD TALEB HAZAEA GHASHAM Al-MOHAMADI, also from Yemen, said that he enjoyed the experience of movable type printing with his friends. He found the “searching for characters” part challenging but enjoyed it.
