On May 31, 2023 Dongying Innovation and Development Cooperation Promotion Conference (the Conference), a supporting activities of 2023 Hong Kong-Macao-Shandong Week, was kicked off in Hong Kong. Themed with “Create a Win-win Future with Openness and Innovation”, the Conference aims at further enhancing the understanding, communication, cooperation, and common development among Shandong, Hong Kong, and Macao. Chen Bichang, Deputy Secretary of CPC Dongying Municipal Committee and Mayor of Dongying City, and Lyu Wei, director of the Department of Commerce of Shandong Province, attended and addressed the Conference. Sun Yong, Vice Mayor of Dongying City, presided over the Conference.
More than one hundred guests and business representatives from Hong Kong, Macao and Shandong attended the meeting.
On behalf of the CPC Dongying Municipal Committee and Dongying Municipal People’s Government, Chen Bichang gave a warm welcome to all the guests and expressed his great gratitude for their care and support for Dongying’s development. As emphasized by Chen Bichang, Dongying City has established closer communication and cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao recently, resulting in a generous dividend on development for all. Dongying is experiencing unprecedented opportunities in the new era. Major national strategies are fully implemented in the city; the replacement of traditional drivers by new ones is speeded up; high-quality development is always on its way; institutional innovation is promoted as soon as possible; and the business environment is getting better.
Lyu Wei indicated in his address that Hong Kong-Macao-Shandong Week is a pragmatic initiative for Shandong Province to implement the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the CPC and promote a high-level opening up. Backed by the “Shandong Week”, the Conference orienting to Hong Kong promotes and leads Dongying to a broader layout on its innovation and development. It will surely boost the cooperation between Dongying City and Hong Kong into a new stage, writing a new chapter for all of us.
At the Conference, there were 9 key cooperation projects signed on the site, with a total investment of about 4 billion US dollars. Foreign capital in the contracts was nearly 700 million US dollars, covering new energy, new materials and other fields.
During the 2023 Hong Kong-Macao -Shandong Week, Chen Bichang also led a group to visit such institutions, universities and companies of Hong Kong and Macao as China Resources Group (Hong Kong) and the University of Hong Kong to celebrities from all walks of life in Hong Kong and Macao, and have a symposium with entrepreneurs and representatives from colleges and chambers of commerce, so as to thoroughly study the experiences and practices from Hong Kong and Macao in promoting scientific and technological innovation, fruit transformation, integration of culture and tourism, and other fields, publicize and promote Dongying City, and conduct negotiations on such projects as agricultural products from saline-alkali land and ecotourism.
