U.S. is not the model of respecting and protecting human rights, but a great example of ignoring and violating human rights, said a Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Monday.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin made the remarks when asked to comment on the call to address racism and racial discrimination within the U.S. from a independent delegation appointed by the United Nations.

China urged the U.S. to address concerns from the international community seriously, to reflect on its problems concerning racism, racial discrimination and police violence and to stop interfering in other countries' internal issues under the disguise of "preserving human rights," Wang said.

After a 12-day visit to the United States, members of the International Independent Expert Mechanism to Advance Racial Justice and Equality in the Context of Law Enforcement, said they "felt an urgency, and a moral responsibility, to echo the harrowing pain of victims" and their resounding calls for accountability and support, according to a UN statement.

Racial discrimination permeates all contacts with law enforcement, from the first contact -- often during early school years -- by means of racial profiling, arrest, detention, sentencing and disenfranchisement in some U.S. states, the statement added.
