Fiery-red lanterns, tasty food, artistic exhibitions…The Zhongshan crowded street in Qingdao’s Shinan District is brimming over with life. The lively scene enhanced the atmosphere of the Spring Festival.
On January 25, Shinan District launched the first Guangjieli Festival (Shopping Festival) to gather various superior resources for the sake of a joyous Chinese New Year featuring Qingdao characteristic. The charming and archaistic street surely will be a good destination for citizens and tourists to understand the history of Qingdao. The event will last until February 19.
The opening ceremony kicked off with the festive and cheerful percussion music Inspiring Shangjieli (Go Shopping), igniting the scene instantly. The excellent event with exciting performances presented a distinctive Spring Festival to the citizens and tourists.
People can not only experience such folk cultures as lion dance, Spring Festival lantern show and intangible cultural heritage bazaar, but also participate in various interactive activities, including courtyard exhibition, cooking tea around the stove, writing Spring couplets, etc. While enjoy the historical atmosphere of the old town of Qingdao, we can also have an insight of Chinese excellent traditional culture. The event also incorporates a lot of international elements.
In retrospect, the first Shangjieli Beer Festival of Shinan District in the summer attracted nearly one million tourists.
In recent years, Shinan District of Qingdao has take the preservation and renewal of historic urban areas as an important livelihood project and a project in the public interest, accelerate the remolding and upgrading of business forms and mobilized the whole district to build the super IP Shangjieli of Qingdao. In the future, the district will put more efforts in urban renewal and investment attraction, accelerate the integration culture and tourism and business development, create more high-quality festive events, and further gather various excellent resources to overflow the historic urban areas with vigour.
