On the morning of Sept. 28, the Confucius Memorial Ceremony was held to commemorate the 2573rd birthday of Confucius. The global ceremony is a combination of live event and webcast, initiating a common sacrifice to the ancient Chinese sage Confucius and proposing inheritance and promotion of fine Chinese traditional culture.

The ceremony is a part of the 2022 China (Qufu) International Confucius Cultural Festival and 8th Nishan Forum on World Civilizations.

Born Sept. 28, 551 B.C., Confucius was a Chinese philosopher, educator, and founder of the Confucian school of thought. His theories, which advocate peace and social harmony, influenced orthodox ideology in China for more than 2,000 years.

The Confucius memorial event began in 478 BC. At first, it was held once a year in autumn. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, the event was held in spring and autumn.
