On April 26, the 22nd World Intellectual Property Day, the Information Office of Shandong Provincial People’s Government held a press conference. Shandong Administration for Market Regulation briefed on the development and protection of intellectual property rights in the province. White Paper on “The Development and Protection of Intellectual Property Rights in Shandong Province in 2021”, as well as Typical Cases of Intellectual Property Administrative Protection in 2021, were released.
In 2021, Shandong’s work on intellectual property had been steadily advanced, with 36,300 invention patents and 465,000 trademark registrations in the province, up 35.9% and 32.9% year-on-year respectively. By the end of 2021, the province had had 150,800 invention patents, and the number of invention patents per 10,000 population reached 14.85, an increase of 2.45 from the end of 2020. There are 2.057 million valid registered trademarks in the province, and 81 products have been approved for protection of geographical indications. The province has realized a good start in its development into a powerhouse of intellectual property in the “14th Five-year Plan” period (2021-2025).
