China's Ministry of Emergency Management vows to resolutely curb major accidents after a China Eastern's flight crashed in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, killing 132 persons onboard.

The ministry said it should be more accurate and effective in the investigation of major risks and hidden dangers and solve deep-seated contradictions in a bid to ensure the absolute safety.

China Eastern Airlines flight MU5735 crashed in a mountainous area in Tengxian county, Guangxi, on March 21. All 132 people on board died, the national emergency response headquarters for the accident announced.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) decided to set up a supervisory group to carry out safety supervision in North China and Southwest China from Tuesday to Thursday, according to the CAAC Journal on Monday.

The main tasks for the group include self-inspection of personnel qualification management, operational risk control, and continuous airworthiness and maintenance of aircraft, in a bid to resolutely guarantee the safety of civil aviation.

As a swift reaction to the accident, airlines beefed up flight safety procedures, following the CAAC's order to strengthen aviation safety measures, including stronger leadership in safety work, enhanced risk prevention and control, strict enforcing of regulations and operational standards, and fulfilling safety supervision responsibilities.

The CAAC ordered the industry to immediately carry out a two-week industry safety inspection to strengthen inspection over potential hazards and ensure the safety of aviation operations and people's lives.
