According to the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong Province, Shandong Future Network Research Institute has completed the construction of the world’s first 5,600-kilometer deterministic network, covering 16 cities.

Back in June, 2021, Shandong Provincial Government approved the establishment of Shandong Future Network Research Institute, to accelerate the breakthrough of industrial generic technology and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements.

According to test and evaluation results by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, under the high load of “12G determinacy + 80G background traffic”, the world’s first 5,600 km deterministic network features an average delay jitter of 6 microseconds and a maximum delay jitter of 14 microseconds in deterministic traffic, achieving the research goal of WAN end-to-end deterministic traffic jitter below 20 microseconds. With all its indicators reaching the world advanced level, this deterministic network will provide important support for large-scale machine communication, remote control, etc.

At present, this deterministic network has been applied in some industries.

According to reports, this deterministic network also provides on-demand computing and storage services for enterprises in the province by integrating the computing capabilities of the supercomputing centers of Jinan, Qingdao, and Inspur and the small data centers in enterprises, realizing “the whole cloud reachable with one-point access to the network”.
