According to a press conference held on the afternoon of January 17 by the Information Office of Shandong Provincial People’s Government, customs statistics show that the import and export value of Shandong Province in 2021 reached 2.93 trillion yuan, hitting a record high for the sixth consecutive year since 2016, an increase of 32.4% over 2020 and a 43.1% increase over 2019, accounting for 7.5% of China’s total foreign trade import and export value, in comparison to 6.9% in 2020.

Shandong’s export value was 1.76 trillion yuan, an increase of 34.8% over 2020, 58.0% over 2019; the import value was 1.17 trillion yuan, an increase of 29.0% over 2020, an increase of 25.5% over 2019.

Shandong’s growth rate of export & import, export, and import are all higher than the national average. Among the top 6 major foreign trade provinces and cities, which are Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Beijing and Shandong, Shandong ranks first in terms of the growth rates of export & import and export, and ranks third in terms of the growth rate of import.

In the month of December 2021, the import and export value of Shandong Province was 279.90 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.0%, hitting a new record high for the fourth time in the year after June, September and November. The export value was 184.13 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22.4%, and an increase of 66.9% over 2019, a record high; the import value was 95.77 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.1%, and an increase of 10.0% over 2019.
