China’s Shandong and Solomon Islands’ Isabel hold online conference, seeking further cooperation

With the theme of “A Handshake Across the Pacific”, the Isabel Province, Solomon Islands - Shandong Province, China online conference was held on August 25, 2021.

Cai Xianjin, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shandong Provincial Party Committee, Li Ming, Chinese Ambassador to Solomon Islands, heads of relevant departments, enterprises, Liaocheng City and Liaocheng University of Shandong Province, Leslie Kikolo, Governor of Isabel Province, Tony Vasia, Vice Governor of Isabel Province, and relevant departments of Isabel Province attended the meeting.

Cai Xianjin introduced the provincial conditions of Shandong and the latest economic and social development of the province in his speech. He hoped that the meeting would be an opportunity for the two sides to enhance mutual understanding, deepen friendly relations, promote practical cooperation, boost cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and make the vast Pacific Ocean a witness of the friendly cooperation between Shandong and Isabel.

Leslie Kikolo, expressed congratulations on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, firm support for the One-China principle and determination to actively develop exchanges and cooperation with local governments in China. He introduced the provincial conditions of Isabel and expressed the hope to deepen exchanges and cooperation with Shandong in infrastructure construction, mining and other fields.

Ambassador Li Ming pointed out that the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Solomon Islands conforms to the common interests and common aspirations of the two peoples. He said that the online conference is the first handshake between Shandong and Isabel, marking an important step forward in the cooperation between the two sides. The future cooperation between Shandong and Isabel will be highly complementary, with great development potential and broad prospects. He hoped that the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides could become an important example of cooperation between China and Solomon Islands, so as to jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind.
