China's first unmanned marine ranching observation ship underwent sea trials and was put into use recently in Weihai, China’s Shandong Province. The unmanned ship carries underwater robots and can dive as deep as 50 meters. Equipped with 4K high-definition cameras both on surface and underwater, underwater images can be transmitted in real time and watched on a computer or mobile phone.
The unmanned ship was jointly developed by Weihai Skysailing Technology Co., Ltd. (Skysailing Company), an incubator in Weihai Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park of HIT, and Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai).
Made of carbon fiber composites, the unmanned ship includes the main hull, communication system, power supply system, underwater vehicle, control software and other parts. It is operated by hand-held intelligent remote control, which can work normally in level 2 sea conditions and support autonomous cruise at multiple waypoints.
The delivery and use of the unmanned marine ranching observation ship will greatly promote the development of local smart marine ranching and transparent ocean.
