On July 20, China’s self-developed maglev transportation system with a speed of 600 kilometers per hour, successfully rolled off the production line in Qingdao, East China’s Shandong province, with complete intellectual property rights, marking China’s mastery of the complete set of high-speed maglev technology and engineering capabilities.

The research and development of the system was launched in October 2016, undertaken and organized by CRRC, coordinated by CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd., involving more than 30 universities, research institutes and enterprises in the field of maglev and high-speed rail in China.

After five years of research, a series of difficulties have been systematically solved, such as speed improvement, complex environment adaptability, localization of core system, and a series of major breakthroughs have been achieved in complete engineering technologies such as system integration, vehicles, traction power supply, transportation control communications, and line tracks.

At present, the integration and the joint system adjustment of the 600 km/h high-speed maglev transportation system have been completed. The five marshalling trains have realized stable suspension and dynamic operation on the in-plant debugging line, with good functional performance.
