Located in Yantai, East China’s Shandong province, Tides Yantai China Pacific Rim Park, or Tides Park, is the seventh Pacific Rim Park in the world built by the organization of Pacific Rim Park, as well as the only one in the Chinese mainland.

The organization of Pacific Rim Park was founded in 1994, its headquarter is located in San Diego, the United States, a Sister City of Yantai. It aims to organize young students from the Pacific Rim regions to jointly design and build parks to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between peoples. It plans to build 41 parks in the Pacific Rim regions to form a “pearl necklace” around the Pacific, and build a platform to promote cooperation and exchanges in the Pacific Rim regions.

The construction of the Tides Yantai China Pacific Rim Park started on July 10, 2018. With the wholehearted cooperation between Yantai Municipal People’s Government and the organization of Pacific Rim Park from the US, the design and construction of the park were completed within 30 days, by a team of architects and student volunteers from seven countries including the US, Russia, Philippines, South Korea, Mexico, Colombia and China. The park was officially completed on July 28, covering an area of about 5,000 square meters, marking Yantai’s official inclusion in the community of Pacific Rim Park.

The design of the park integrates the elements of the sea and the beach, the sky and the earth, the sun and the rain, and the unique element of the “pearl” of Pacific Rim Park, combining the essence of Eastern and Western cultures, manifesting the charm of the sea and the beauty of harmony, meaning to enhance the peace, prosperity and friendship between peoples in the Pacific Rim regions.
