China's tourism revenue increases 228.9% during Qingming Festival holiday

The revenue of China's tourism sector increased by 228.9 percent to 27.17 billion yuan (about $4.14 billion) during the three-day Qingming Festival holiday, according to an estimate from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Monday.

Between April 3 and 5, 145 million trips were made in China, maintaining a high passenger flow with a year-on-year increase of 142 percent, the Ministry of Transport estimated.

Transactions worth 1.72 trillion yuan were made online during the period, an increase of 48.9 percent year on year, according to NetsUnion Clearing Corporation.
