On the morning of March 19, the Information Office of Shandong Provincial People’s Government held a press conference to brief on the promotion of COVID-19 vaccine vaccination in Shandong province.

It’s reported that vaccination in Shandong province is divided into four phases according to the priority of pandemic prevention and control and the capacity of vaccine production and supply.

The first phase is to vaccinate nine key groups of people involved in import of cold-chain goods, including customs inspection and quarantine personnel at the frontline of ports involved in the importation of cold-chain items, which was started in December last year and has been basically completed.

The second phase of vaccination in Shandong will be carried out from now until the end of June for all people aged 18 to 59. In this phase, priority will be given to people who work at high risk of disease transmission, as well as to older people who are in good physical condition and at higher risk of infection and others who need priority in vaccination, which requires a comprehensive assessment based on the health status and exposure risk of target population, as well as the availability of the vaccine.

In the third phase, the province will promote the vaccination of the elderly, patients with basic diseases and other high-risk groups in the second half of the year in line with national deployment.

In the fourth phase, Shandong will continue to expand the range of people vaccinated and form a herd immunity barrier.
