During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Shandong Port Group completed a construction investment of 65 billion yuan, and newly built 75 production berths, bringing the total number of its production berths to 320. The designed annual traffic capacity of the new terminals reached 257 million tons (4.18 million TEUs), bringing the designed annual traffic capacity of all its terminals to 810 million tons (29.69 TEUs). It added 7.96 cubic meters of crude oil storage tanks during the period, bringing the total to 15 million cubic meters. The long-term crude oil pipeline capacity was increased by 45 million tons per year.

According to the news conference held on Dec. 30, the 13th Five-Year Plan period is an important stage with epoch-making significance in the development history of Shandong Ports, whose development and construction of ports have made great progress and qualitative improvement.

The most important symbol and achievement is that the coastal ports of Shandong province have completed a major historic transformation, realized the transformation and upgrading from decentralized operation to integrated operation, and opened a new era of high-quality development of Shandong Ports.

Shandong Port Group currently has 4 major port groups, 11 plate groups, 17 main port areas, more than 300 production berths, and a total of more than 300 shipping routes. It has formed an integrated development pattern with Qingdao Port as the front runner, Rizhao Port and Yantai Port as the wings, Bohai Bay Port as the extension, plate groups as the support, and many inland waterless ports as the support. Faced with severe challenges such as the impact of the epidemic this year, the cargo throughput and container volume both exceeded 1.4 billion tons and 30 million TEUs, continuously leading the coastal ports in China.

The project up and running is now in generally-good operation, which provides a basic guarantee for the substantial improvement of port traffic capacity.
