The Information Office of Shandong Provincial People’s Government held a news briefing to interpret the instruction on furthering the construction of new-type smart cities.

Last year, Shandong province issued the country’s first provincial-level standard for the construction of new smart cities, and carried out provincial-level trails in cities and counties, with initial results achieved.

The provincial standard for the construction of new smart cities has been carried out at the municipal level, county level and community level. There are 49 indicators at the municipal level, 44 at the country level and 24 at the community level. Each indicator has five levels covering all aspects of optimizing government service, benefiting the people, developing business and strengthening the foundation.

Among the specific indicators, there are not only prescribed actions such as education, travel and medical treatment, but also leading indicators such as 5G network coverage, IPv6 deployment and intelligent light proportion, which set higher requirements for the construction of new smart cities and counties. In addition to common indicators, additional points with local characteristics, such as pilot work, innovative demonstration and publicity and experience, have been set up to encourage cities and counties to actively carry out pilot and innovation works and create typical applications and advanced cases.

Next, the province will try its best to promote the construction of new smart cities throughout the province to improve the quality and efficiency.
