In the critical period of flood control, in order to ensure the basic stability of the market prices of important livelihood goods and services such as flood control and disaster relief supplies and daily necessities, Shandong Administration for Market Regulation has issued a circular requiring the market supervision system of the province to intensify the supervision and regulation on market prices during the flood period, and to investigate and handle violations such as price hiking according to law.

Shandong will focus on the price supervision and regulation in key areas including flood control and disaster relief supplies, daily necessities, consumer services, and online and offline retail platforms; strictly and promptly investigate and handle price violations such as hoarding and profiteering, price hiking and price collusion; and expose in time a number of typical cases of a vile nature and with severe social impact. It will organize personnel to intensify inspections and keep an eye on the price fluctuations in flood control and disaster relief supplies such as sand, stone, woven bags, life jackets, and lifeboats, in daily necessities such as rice, flour, oil, meat, eggs, milk, vegetables, as well as in consumer-oriented services such as catering, parking, and rescue services. In case of price emergencies, law enforcement personnel will conduct on-site investigations to check whether the problem is true or not within 24 hours for cases of “particularly serious” and “serious” levels.
