Provisions on medical expenses on COVID-19 of arrivals in Shandong from abroad

In order to further strengthen the prevention and control of imported cases of COVID-19,Shandong issued the regulations on expenses for hospitalization, centralized quarantine or home quarantine.

I. Medical expenses of COVID-19 for arrivals in Shandong from abroad

a. For the imported cases who are covered by the basic medical insurance, the share of individual will be financially subsided after the confirmed and suspected patients paying the medical expenses in accordance with the provisions of the basic medical insurance, critical illness insurance and medical assistance.

b. The expenses incurred by arrivals in Shandong from abroad during their stay in the medical institution shall, in principle, be borne by the individual.

c. For the imported cases who are not covered by the basic medical insurance, the medical expenses shall be borne by the patients themselves; among those patients who have bought the commercial insurance, the commercial insurance company shall pay the medical expenses in time according to the contract.

d. For those qualified imported cases who are not covered by the basic medical insurance and have real difficulties, medical assistance may be provided in accordance with the law on the prevention and control of infectious diseases and other laws and regulations.

II. Isolation charges for arrivals in Shandong from abroad

a. For arrivals in Shandong from any other country and region, the relevant expenses incurred in the cohort isolation or home isolation measures shall be borne by individuals.

b. For the expenses of accommodation and meals incurred during the period of cohort isolation, specific charging standard shall be formulated by the city where the isolation were implemented in accordance with the principle of no higher than the charging standard for the same period of last year. To the person that is truly difficult, each city gives allowance as appropriate after the confirmation.

c. Other expenses not related to the prevention and control of the epidemic during the period of cohort isolation shall be borne by the quarantined persons themselves.

d. Local governments bear the transport expenses to the quarantine areas.

III. Other related requirements

All localities shall effectively ensure the basic livelihood of the persons under isolation, strengthen daily management, complete relevant systems, bear the related fees according to regulations, and strictly prohibit arbitrary collection of fees from the persons under isolation.

The provisions will take effect on March 18.
