Over one hundred teachers and students from countries including Russia, Australia and Thailand paid a visit to Shandong Polytechnic College on October 28, 2019, where they learned to play the guqin and explored the charm of traditional Chinese culture.

"I had learned to play the violin, but this is the first time for me to learn to play a guqin. It is a bit difficult to play it well," smiled Zhao Nanfeng, an international student from Thailand. She came to Jining two months ago and could not speak fluent Chinese. "I want to go to college in China, and I am working hard to learn Chinese," she said.

The Guqin, a Chinese seven-stringed zither, was approved as the "representative of the oral and intangible cultural heritage of mankind" by UNESCO in November 2003; On May 20, 2006, guqin playing was included into the list of the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage, becoming a well-deserved treasure of Chinese culture.

Guqin resonated among foreign teachers and students. They believed that the activity provided a channel for them to get a better understanding of traditional Chinese culture.

In the library, foreign teachers and students tried on traditional Han clothing, experienced Luban lock and rice engraving, and watched the video of China's high-speed railway.
