On Oct. 18, Shandong Development and Reform Commission held a symposium on serving the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region in Beijing, capital of China. At the meeting, Shandong Joint Conference Office was set up for docking with the development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region.

Integrating into the development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region is a great opportunity for Shandong to fully align national strategies, upgrade its industries and accelerate the transformation of growth drivers. The provincial Party committee and government attach great importance to the integration of Shandong into the development of Beijing-Tianjin-Heibei Region.

According to the outline of the province’s 13th Five-year Plan, Shandong supports Liaocheng, Dezhou, Binzhou and Dongying to undertake the tasks of gutting Beijing of all functions unrelated to its status as national capital and transferring the industries of Beijing and Tianjin, so as to contribute to build a demonstration area for the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region.

The cooperation between Shandong and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region has already bore positive fruits. By the end of May, Jinan has introduced 119 projects from Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, with 18.473 billion yuan of paid-in investment and 75 projects invested over 100 million yuan. Dongying has introduced a total of 48 projects, with a planned investment of 71.245 billion yuan, 38 projects with an investment of more than 100 million yuan respectively and 2.785 billion yuan of paid-in investment. Since 2017, Binzhou has signed and approved 209 projects in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, with a total planned investment of 257 billion yuan, 137 projects each invested over 100 million yuan and 2.785 billion yuan of paid-in investment.

The establishment of the office provides a reliable guarantee for Shandong to build a stable base area for the cooperation between Shandong and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, unblock channels of cooperation and exchange, and integrate the province into the development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region.
