The media delegation of "Rural Revitalization in Shandong" all-media coverage activity arrived at Swan Lake International Slow City in Gaoqing county, Zibo city of Shandong province on September 3. Nearly 30 Chinese and foreign media outlets had a close look at the province's rural tourism and economy.

The Slow City, located in the northeast of Gaoqing and adjacent to the Yellow River, covers a planning area of over 50 square kilometers and a core area of 5,000 mu wetland. It is a comprehensive cultural tourism industrial park integrating natural and cultural resources including the Yellow River, wetlands, hot springs and villages, which boasts functions such as sightseeing, leisure and vacation, wedding celebration, scientific research, health maintenance, and outdoor experience.

Last year, the Swan Lake International Slow City was selected as a demonstration project of the driving force transformation and rated as a national AAA scenic area. On June 22, 2019, it was approved as a full member of the international slow city alliance, becoming the first international slow city in the Yellow River basin.

Sticking to the development concept of "paying equal attention to protection and development", the slow city plans to build six areas, the swan lake wetland sightseeing area, Aili Lake ecological protection area, Anlan bay leisure resort, slow village cluster, hot spring health care area, and Taohuayuan health and cultural tourism project.

The favorable ecological environment here has attracted more than 100 kinds of birds, and it is an important habitat for rare birds such as aurora crows and swans. With the average negative ion oxygen content reaching 20,000 per cubic meters, it is a veritable natural oxygen bar.

Regarded as an organic combination of rural revitalization and poverty relief, the Swan Lake International Slow City can receive 1.5 million tourists every year and creates more than 5,000 jobs.
