CPI rises 3% in Shandong in July

The consumer price index (CPI) in Shandong rose 3 percent in July and up 0.2 percentage points from June from a year earlier, and rose 0.5 percent month on month with an increase of 0.4 percentage points from June. In the first seven months of this year, Shandong’s CPI rose by an average of 2.5 percent over the same period last year.

The food price index climbed higher in July from the previous months. In July, the food price index in the province rose 1.6 percent, up 1.3 percentage points from June. The pork and egg price index rose significantly. In July, the pork price rose 8.5 percent month on month, 1.6 percentage points higher than that in June while the year-on-year price increase reached 36.5 percent which is 4.3 percentage points higher than in June. The egg price in July rose 7.2 percent from the previous months after a 4.6 percent falling in June. The year-on-year growth in egg price climbed to 11.3 percent, 6.1 percentage points higher than in June.

The service industry in Shandong continues to rise in price. In July, the service price went up 0.7 percent month on month, 0.6 percentage points higher than in June and the year-on-year rise in service is 2.2 percent.

The manufactured consumer price is stable with a slight decline. The price index fell only 0.1 percent month on month and rose 0.1 percent year on year.
