Wind music art week kicks off in Shinan, Qingdao

A sepcial concert was held at the opening ceremony of the 2019 Qingdao Shinan Wind Music Art Week in Qingdao Concert Hall on July 20, Qingdao, east China's Shandong province.

Top international wind masters from countries including Italy, Japan and Serbia gathered in Shinan district to play the magnificent music for the opening ceremony of art week. A total of 500 wind music students and music fans from all over the country participated in the activity.

The concert began with the sonorous and cheerful trumpet solo "The Barber of Seville" by the internationally renowned trumpet player, Mr. Andre Juvredi. He also played classic music of The Lady of the Camellias, Rigoletto, etc. as well as rhythmic modern music.

The women's clarinet quartet from Japan played "The Rhythm of Water" "Calioco Dance" as well as Piazzolla's "Free Tango" and the theme song of the famous Japanese animation "Lupin the Third".

"Andante and Rondo" by Kello Vincennes, professor of flute at Juliard School of Music, and Han Shuangyu, a young flute player and professor Liu Sanhui, presented a wonderful trio of flute and piano for the audience with lyrical and lively sound effects.

In recent years, wind music masters from the Central Conservatory of Music and China Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles have given lectures in primary and secondary schools in Shinan district thanks to the wind music art week and series of activities.

More than 10 wind music masters have given professional guidance to over 2,000 students in Shinan district. A wave of wind music learning has been set off in the district's primary and secondary schools. At present, 23 schools have set up campus wind bands in Shinan.
