Shandong takes measures to carry forward time-honored brand value

According to the news conference held Wednesday, Shandong Provincial Commerce Department and Shandong Time-honored Enterprise Association launched the white paper of Shandong Time-honored Brand Development Report.

Wang Hongping, vice director of Shandong Provincial Commerce Deparment, said that Shandong has 346 time-honored enterprises, including 66 time-honored enterprises recognized by the Ministry of Commerce and 280 time-honored enterprises recognized by the provincial department of commerce. The average age of these 346 time-honored enterprises is 96 years old while 105 enterprises have a history of more than 100 years.

In terms of industrial distribution, 346 enterprises are mainly distributed in more than a dozen fields that are closely related to people's daily life, such as general merchandise retail, restaurants and hotels, cereal and oil food, beverage, textile and clothing, traditional Chinese medicine health products, light industrial arts, agriculture, as well as forestry and animal husbandry.

In 2018, 234 time-honored enterprises achieved a combined revenue of 198.59 billion yuan, an increase of 9.4 percent over 2017. Of the 346 enterprises, 241 achieved revenue growth, accounting for 70 percent of the total.

In the future, Shandong will adhere to the innovation-driven development to inject new vitality to time-honored brands, continue to improve the connotation to tap into the cultural and brand value of these brands, and build the platform to integrate resources to propel the development of enterprises.

Shandong has introduced more than 20 real cases of the reform and innovative development of time-honored brands. “These cases are good examples of Shandong’s time-honored enterprises following the development of the times and show the mission and responsibility that the enterprises shoulder,” said Wang Hongping, “It is helpful for the public to have a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the touching stories behind time-honored brands and understand the essence of traditional culture and core value of time-honored brands.”
