In China, paper-cut has a broad mass base and is rooted in people's daily life. As an important part of the folk art, it has attracted a lot of people including foreigners. Recently, ten foreigners from Africa were invited by Touch Shandong column to have a close look at Jinan paper-cut and experience the charm of Chinese paper-cutting.

Wang Tao, an inheritor of Jinan paper-cut, taught the foreigners how to cut traditional paper-cut works. He first gave a brief introduction of the history of paper-cut, then he demonstrated how to cut on the spot and displayed several of his art works. The foreign friends were amazed by the charm of this traditional Chinese fork art.

Cui Jixiang, a young man from the Republic of Congo, can speak fluent Chinese though he had been in China for a very short time."I'd studied Chinese in my country before I came to China. After graduation, I want to find a job in a Sino-Congo company or work as a Chinese translator in my country," he said.

He has been long fascinated with Chinese culture. Before the paper-cutting class, he had learned calligraphy and Chinese painting. In his view, studying traditional Chinese culture will not only let people enjoy the beautiful treat but also contribute a lot to the Chinese learning.

Wang Yi, also from the Republic of Congo, learned paper-cutting due to his interest in Chinese culture. Though he made a mistake when hollowing out the paper, with his love for paper-cutting, he completed his work finally.

"I love Chinese culture and Chinese language. I want to be a Chinese teacher in my country ." He also wished to make contributions to Chinese and Congolese friendship because of the close cooperation between the two countries in recent years.

"Through paper cutting, I got a deeper understanding of Chinese customs and tradition. I feel calm and relaxed in the process of paper-cutting and experience the beauty of life".
