Fashion industries boost night economy in Qingdao

Recently, a talk show club on Hong Kong Road became very popular in Qingdao. The founder of the club is He Tianqi, a post-1985 overseas returnee.

Having been deeply impressed by talk show performance in foreign countries, He opened a talk show club with his friends in Qingdao last September. Every Friday night, they stage a talk show for customers in the club.

"I want to create a space where everyone can forget the worries and difficulties in their life and work ", said He Tianqi.

"We started the club for fun. But beyond our expectation, actors in the club have risen to more than 30 from 5 at the very beginning ", he added.

A total of over 2,000 people have watched their talk shows. Every Friday night, they spend two hours in the club to enjoy the fun of language.

In a cafe in Shinan district, a group of people choose to spend the night by dancing.

Martha, a graduate of Russian, once had a well-paid job. In 2014, she got to know tango by chance and started to engaged in the promotion of tango culture. Now, her club has a total of more than 500 members.

With the rapid social development, night life has become a new lifestyle for many citizens and has developed a strong driving force of urban economic development -- night economy. Under the guidance of policies, the economic circle of characteristic nightlife including the Olympic Sailing Center, Zhangzhou 2nd road, Minjiang 2nd road and Yunxiao road is quite popular, and makes the nightlife more fashionable, romantic and colorful.

"We will lead the social forces to build a batch of music bars, book bars, museums, art galleries and fashion consumption places so as to foster the fashion economy and fashion night economy of Shinan district," said Sun Jing, director of the tourism and culture department of the district.
