Shandong's import and export value exceeds 600 billion in April

According to the latest statistics released by the customs, the import and export of goods in Shandong reached 624.17 billion yuan in the first four months, a year-on-year growth of 6.3 percent, which is two percentage points higher than the national growth rate and accounts for 6.6 percent of the total value of China's foreign trade. Exports grew by 5.7 percent, equaling the national growth rate, and imports increased by 6.9 percent, 4 percentage pionts higher than the national rate. An accumulated trade surplus of 44.53 billion yuan has been realized, narrowing by 1.1 percent.

Since the beginning of 2019, the import and export of Shandong has continued the growth trend from the second half of 2018. Except for the slight decline in February, the other months maintain the trend of increase.

In April, the import and export value amounted to 165.63 billion yuan, up 8.7 percent year-on-year and 4.2 percent from March. Export fell in April after a rapid increase in March, while import rebounded to 79.3 billion yuan in April after falling briefly in March, realizing a rise of 18.5 percent from last year and 16.5 percent from March.

Besides the steady growth of the total volume, the structure of foreign trade in Shandong has been continuously optimized. In the first four months, the general trade of imports and exports reached 423.04 billion yuan in Shandong, an increase of 4.3 percent and taking up 67.8 percent of the total value of Shandong's imports and exports. The imports and exports of private enterprises achieved 394.14 billion yuan, up 8.2 percent and accounting for 63.1 percent of the province's total value of imports and exports in the same period. The imports and exports of state-owned enterprises surged by 21.5 percent.
