It is known to all that Shandong is an agricultural powerhouse in China. More than 10 foreign students at Shandong University arrived in Zhangqiu Huiquan Agro-ecological Park on January 3 to gain an insight into the development of modern agriculture and agricultural tourism in Shandong.

The windmill turning around in the breeze and the freshness of nature greeted them when the foreign students entered the park. Firstly, they got a glimpse of the advanced agricultural production techniques, for example, the soilless culture. The high-standard winter greenhouses astounded the foreigners greatly as no chemical fertilizers and pesticides are used here. The park has made a qualitative leap in agricultural delicacy management with a precise control system, edge-cutting agricultural production technology and agricultural specialists.

Only by scientific cultivation and management can the green and nutrition of agricultural products be ensured. Huiquan has become one of the five agricultural products providers designated by the local government because of the high quality of its products.

The foreigners also picked and tasted some fruits and vegetables and applauded the delicious taste.

After visiting the greenhouses, the foreigners were intrigued by a racecourse and a suspension bridge. The park has also made great efforts to develop ecological sightseeing agriculture. In addition to the planting and sales of agricultural products, the park is equipped with a comprehensive agricultural sightseeing project for tourist entertainment while experiencing agricultural cultivation and harvest. The foreign students were so excited to start a “swinging battle” on the bridge.

Shandong University and Huiquan Agricultural Agro-ecological Park signed an agreement and decided to jointly establish an international student internship base in a bid to provide a platform for international students to know more about Chinese agriculture.

Qu Cheng, a Chinese Brazilian, said that the activity offers an opportunity for them to look deeply into the Chinese agriculture. This was his first contact with Chinese agriculture which deepened his understanding of China’s development. “There are much for Brazil to learn from these new technologies,” he added, “Brazil has large-scale farms and a vast land with sparse population, but there is no such sophisticated green agricultural models. This system is well worth learning.”

Zhangqiu Huiquan Agro-ecological Park is a comprehensive agro-ecological industrial demonstration base for fruit and vegetable planting, aquaculture, product distribution, agro-product processing and ecological agricultural sightseeing.
