Shandong committed to extending buses to every village

By the end of November, Shandong has completed 4,700 rural passenger stations with 99.3 percent in poverty-stricken villages.

According to Shandong Provincial Transport Department, Shandong has accelerated the construction of passenger stations in poverty-stricken villages in recent years to facilitate their transportation. In 2017, 2,390 passenger stations for poverty-stricken villages in the province were built, compared with 1,149 in 2016. Shandong planned to invest 174.6 million yuan in the construction of 4,735 rural passenger stations in 2018. By the end of November, 173 million yuan has been put into 4,700 rural passenger stations. The remaining 35 were suspended due to village relocation and road repair in the Yellow River beach regions.

Shandong has been committed to extending the buses to every village. By the end of November, 76,812 of 77,971 villages have been open to buses accounting for 98.5 percent of the total. Among them, 8,303 of 8,335 poverty-stricken villages designated by the provincial government will have access to buses, with a rate of 99.6 percent. The remaining 32 poverty-stricken villages will be open to buses before the end of the year.

It’s reported that the traffic mileage of Shandong’s highway will reach 7,600 kilometers to prop up the poverty alleviation in poverty-stricken areas during the 13th "Five-Year Plan".
