Chinese artist Li Zi held an academic seminar focused on her latest works at the Napoleon Memorial Hall in Paris on Tuesday.

With the support from curator Louise Cai and European historian and critic Gerard Xuriguera, several European art experts sat down with the artist to discuss and critique her art career.

In addition to the seminar, three of the artist's video works, Cycling of Life, Piercing and Forest: The Fifth Category, as well as some paintings and installation works were also exhibited at the hall for the first time.

These new works displayed Li's typical style, which uses the color black as a foundation, while expressing her persistent pursuit of ultimate exclusive love, understanding of the beauty of tragedy and ingrained sense of ceremony.

According to curator Louise Cai, Li's works are an excellent combination of humanity, history, philosophy, art and poetry.

"Her art shocks viewers both visually and spiritually. They are very impressive," Cai wrote in exhibition preface.
