With the theme of “New Era, New Growth Forces, New Creativity, New Development”, the 7th Shandong Cultural Industries Fair (SDCIF) kicked off in Jinan, Shandong Province on October 11, 2018. Gang Gyuseon, a Korean student at Shandong University, went to the SDCIF to have a taste of cultures from all over the world.

Gang Gyuseon is very interested in Chinese traditional culture and has a unique opinion on cultural innovation and inheritance. Following him, we also saw a different fair featuring cultural integration.

Walking into the Taiwan Booth, Gang was attracted by the glittering exhibits, including all kinds of bronze statues, root carvings, paintings and calligraphy works, tea cups, and other cultural and creative works.

"The red glaze tea set is really exquisite. A staff gave me some detailed information about the making process. It was really not easy,” said Gang Gyuseon.

Then Gang visited a Korea booth and talked with the wheat-straw artist from Suwon City of South Korea. Since the establishment of their friendly relationship, Jinan and Suwon have been close to each other and have held various cultural exchange activities.

“Few people know that wheat straws can be made into artworks. I hope more people know that through the fair,” said a master of the wheat-straw art.

Additionally, Gang learned to make paper-cutting in Jining Booth from a paper-cutting master. Under the guidance of the master, Gang cut a peony flower. Though it was the first time for him to try paper-cutting, he still made an exquisite paper-cutting work.

The SDCIF is held every two years and has been successfully held for six times. Exhibitors from 31 countries take part in this year's fair.
