Recently, eight foreigners from Afghanistan, South Korea, Yemen, East Timor, Chad and South Sudan, went to Ni Shan Academy to experience sand animation, the manipulation of sand to create animation.

In this performance art, an artist creates a series of images using sand, a process which is achieved by applying sand to a surface and then rendering images by drawing lines and figures in the sand with one's hands.

Feng Jing, a sand animation performer of Ni Shan Academy, introduced the history and development of sand animation, and taught some basic techniques. Having practiced for a while, the foreigners could draw with sand on the light box by themselves.

All of them made great works during the activity and can’t help taking photos of their works to keep as a souvenir. Anny from East Timor said she was really grateful to participate in this activity because she likes drawing, and she thought that the activity can help her to improve her drawing talent.

“Today we take part in an amazing activity with a group of amazing people, and we went to learn more about the sand drawing which is amazing,” said Mokhtar. “I did not know that I have that talent before, so this is a part of talent inside me. Maybe I like to enjoy this art and I will continue it in the future.”
