Shandong to cultivate 100,000 reserve talents of Qilu craftsman

According to Shandong Provincial Education Department, Shandong is going to cultivate 100,000 college students to“reserve talents of Qilu craftsman” from vocational colleges across the province by 2022.

“Reserving talents of Qilu craftsman” aims to serve the major project of shifting the old driving forces into the new in the top ten industries. These talents will be jointly selected, cultivated and evaluated by the vocational colleges and enterprises. The cultivation project aims to establish a system that managed by provincial professional guidance and construction committee of vocational education (hereinafter referred to as the "professional construction committee") and cultivated by vocational colleges and industrial enterprises through the establishment of a normal cultivation mechanism.

From 2018 to 2022, a batch of these talents will be selected each year, and the assessment will be conducted on time after the expiration of the cultivation period. The cultivation is mainly for the second-year students in vocational colleges. The outstanding first-year and third-year students can be included or supplemented in advance. The cultivation period is generally 2 years. Exceptional and excellent students can shorten the term of cultivation after the application is approved according to the requirements of direct application. This year's selection will be launched in October.

Based on the comprehensive assessment of the students’ daily performance, academic performance, skill level, achievements, technical services and entrepreneurship, the professional construction committee will formulate assessment standards for different majors or disciplines, organize and carry out the final assessment before the students’ graduation, and issued certificate to students who have passed the assessment.
