As early as in ancient times, there was mountain regarded as the symbol of “heaven”. This is Mount Tai, a mountain wining worships of almost every emperor. On August 24, the “Charming Shandong” full-media interview tour climbed the mountain to feel the spirit of Mount Tai.

Mount Tai, located just north of Tai’an city in East China’s Shandong province, is a mountain of historical and cultural significance, with impressive views and beautiful natural scenery. It's just 50 km (30 miles) south of Shandong's capital Jinan, so access is convenient.

As a World Natural and Cultural Heritage, World Geopark, National Civilized Scenic Spot, National AAAAA-class Scenic Spot, Mount Tai has attracted many famous people from of old.

At around 9am, the report group traveled by sightseeing buses to the Midway Gate to Heaven, where they take the cable car to the South Gate to Heaven. The South Gate to Heaven, 1460 meters above sea level, is known as the last pass to Heaven.

The word tai in Chinese means stability and peace and the name Tai'an is attributed to the saying: "If Mount Tai is stable, so is the entire country" (both characters of Tai'an have an independent meaning of stability and peace). Mount Tai is crowned by Jade Emperor Peak (in Chinese mythology, the Jade Emperor is the most powerful god in heaven) with an altitude of 1,545 meters.

The majesty of Mount Tai has profoundly moved many visitors at all periods of history: the emperors who claimed they were the sons of heaven, the proud high-ranking officials, brilliant poets, Buddhists, Taoists and ordinary people too.

Mount Tai is more than just a mountain. It is a gift to Chinese people from the nature as well as a spiritual symbol for people to pay homage to Heaven.
