Qingdao's first buoy water quality online monitoring system was officially put into operation in Taoyuan River in Qingdao High-tech Industrial Development Zone on April 4. The system helps to realize the remote monitoring and data real-time transmission of water quality and becomes a new platform for the supervision of water quality inside the zone.

To strengthen the supervision of water resources, the high-tech zone has taken measures to fully implement the "River Chief" system and the target-oriented responsibility system of water environment protection. The supervision system for the basin environmental protection has been established and improved.

In accordance with the information construction, the high-tech zone developed this on-line monitoring system together with other departments. The system, with the use of sensor devices, Internet of things and big data technology, realizes real-time rapid monitoring and tracing of the pollutants.

Currently, the buoy can achieve the real-time monitoring of the seven indexes of water quality including chemical oxygen demand, ammonia nitrogen, PH value, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, turbidity and water temperature.

The monitoring data is transmitted to the sever receiving terminal via wireless transmission system. Staff members can look over real-time data remotely through the management software and service platform.
