China’s first civil-military integration college inaugurated in Qingdao

Qingdao Civil-military Integration College, the first of its kind in China, was inaugurated in the West Coast New Area of Qingdao on March 12, 2018. The college will make active efforts to explore new ways of military and local talent cultivation, communication and employment.

The college was founded based on the Vocational Education Center of the West Coast New Area of Qingdao. The center covers an area of more than 500 mu and has a total of nearly 8,000 students. As a demonstration school of the first batch of secondary vocational education reform, the center is also an advanced unit of national vocational education. With advanced facilities and outstanding teaching staff, it has trained a vast number of skilled talents.

“The civil-military integration college is an important exploration that Qingdao has made for the sake of promoting the in-depth development of civil-military integration, especially in the cultivation and employment of military and local talents,” said Fu Zongping, secretary of the Party committee of Qingdao Civil-military Integration College. "Responsible for the cultivation of talents for both military and civilian jobs, technical skill training and psychological outward bound, the college is seeking to develop a new mode of human resource training and sharing, featuring mutual training and recognition", he added.

Courses and majors will be optimized to conduct civil-military general technical training of electric, welding, marine equipment electromechanical and machining skills, making full use of the 60000-square-meter civil-military integration public training base.

Study and training centers will be set up and open to garrisoned troops such as cultural study center, foreign language training center, training center for psychological consultants as well as artistic and physical training center.

A major of national defense reserve duty will be launched so as to provide quality manpower resources for national defense.

As the only new area of the 19 nationally, Qingdao West Coast New Area undertakes the national task of constructing an innovation and demonstration zone of civil-military integration. Since 2013, the coast has been taking the lead in exploring new ways and modes of civil-military integration.
