The first plenary session of the 13th People’s Congress of Shandong province opened on Jan. 25, 2018 in Jinan, capital of east China’s Shandong province. Gong Zheng, governor of Shandong province delivered a government work report at the meeting.

According to the report, Shandong’s GDP totaled around 7.27 trillion yuan in 2017, an increase of 7.4% over the previous year. 850 million of the agricultural population has been transferred to urban residence.

A total of 832,000 poverty-stricken people have got rid of poverty. The removal plan of residents on the beach area of the Yellow River was approved by the state. By 2020, all residents living here will move to the safe area.

50 counties are set to be demonstration areas of the new six industries by the year 2020. At the same time,600 demonstration subjects are going to be fostered. A three-year action plan will be carried out aiming to improve the rural human settlement and the construction of beautiful villages.

904 delegates had been elected at the 35th session of the 12th Shandong Provincial People’s Congress, among whom two left under order from Shandong. Only 251 people were re-elected as delegates of the Shandong Provincial People’s Congress; the others are all new faces at the meeting.
