On December 31, 2017, Qingdao Metro Line 11 started a 3-month no-load trial operation. Unlike Line 3 and Line 2, Line 11 mainly uses overpasses. Passengers can see natural landscape in metro train and it is scheduled to operate in the first half of 2018.

Qingdao metro line 11 links Aoshanwan and Miaolinglu, covering around 58 kilometers (36 miles) and passing 22 stations. As a north-south express traffic line, Qingdao metro line 11 will greatly alleviate the traffic pressure between Qingdao Oceantec Valley and the central urban area.

Qingdao metro line 11 passes International Expo, International Horticultural Expo, several colleges such as Ocean University of China and Qingdao University of Science and Technology. The appearances of the stations of Qingdao subway line 11 look like seabirds from the side view. After completion, a single trip will take around 40 minutes.
