Policy to facilitate economic engine transition in Shandong

The Foreign Affairs Office of Shandong province has taken active measures in a bid to provide a better service to push forward the transition to new from old economic engines, according to a press conference held Wednesday in Jinan.

Eight major measures have been formulated including active participation in international activities, policy support regarding going abroad on business, conducting accurate overseas exchanges and innovating foreign exchange and cooperation mechanisms.

Priorities have been given to enterprises, economic and trade groups as well as teaching and scientific research staff that go abroad for business concerning economic engine transition. Shandong introduced the standardized idea in the management of traveling abroad, the first of its kind in China. Procedures were also specified and normalized for the handling of going abroad on business. In 2017, people from enterprises and teaching and research institutions travelling abroad on business account for 52.95 percent of the total number in Shandong.

This year, a total of 140 batches of 1,591 foreign guests has been invited or received by the foreign affairs department.

In 2018, with focus on the transition from old to new economic engines, Shandong will organize high-level visits to key nations and regions and invite sister province leaders to visit Shandong.
