A great race between Shandong and Bavaria Industrial workers

Shandong-Bavaria Industrial Workers’ Welding Skills Contest was held in Munich in Germany from Nov. 20 to 22, 2017. The contest was organized by Shandong Federation of Trade Unions and Bavaria Branch of German Industrial Union of Metalworkers and undertaken by German Munich Association of Craftsmen to mark the 30th anniversary of Shandong-Bavaria relationship.

More than 100 people participated in the event, including officials from Shandong delegation, Bavaria Branch of German Industrial Union of Metalworkers and Munich and Upper Bavaria Association of Craftsmen, working personnel and contestants.

The contest was designed to provide a platform for both workers to share welding skills and learn from each other while creating conditions for cooperation and mutual development in welding skills. At the same time, the contest offers an opportunity for Shandong enterprises to integrate with the world, for Shandong’s welders to enter the international stage and for Shandong’s employees to learn and exchange experience with this powerful industrial country.

The two sides exchanged monumental works made by the contestants at the opening ceremony. 12 contestants from Shandong won awards in four events. A variety of skill display and exchange activities were conducted during the two-day event.

Shandong, a major province of economy and manufacture in China, and Bavaria, a powerful state of economy and scientific technology, both have the cultural tradition of carrying forward the spirit of craftsmen and have something in common in developing and advancing the spirit of craftsmen, with quality and innovation as the core. The contest is of great significance for Shandong and Bavaria in deepening friendship, enhancing mutual understanding and promoting exchanges and cooperation.
