In the eyes of his colleagues, Hou Fanghua is accountable and down to earth and with professional skills. In eight years, he has grown to be an engineer from a mechanic, which is impossible for many grass-roots workers.

Hou Fanghua, born in 1987, has been committed to the repair and maintenance of injection molds for 12 years. The pursuit of continuous innovation helps him turn impossible things into reality.

After graduation from a technical secondary school in 2005, Hou came to work in TE Connectivity. Boasting a history of more than 75 years, TE Connectivity takes the lead in global technology and manufacturing with annual sales of $ 13 billion. Their products including connectors and sensors can pass harsh environment verification and play a significant role in promoting the development of transportation, industrial applications, medical technology, energy, data communication and household appliances. TE Connectivity has a total of 78,000 employees worldwide providing service for customers in 150 countries and regions.

Because of his excellent skills and innovation ability, Hou was promoted to technician and a leader of the repair and maintenance team of injection molds in 2008.

He devotes nearly all of his efforts and energy to work. His life is rather simple. “In his eyes, only work matters”, said one of his colleagues.

For a craftsman, the real joy originates from the emerging challenges every day. For Hou, it is really enjoyable to cope with challenges and provide solutions. He has made a total of eight innovations such as remolding the mold with the introduction of new technologies which lifts the production efficiency by 25 percent. All these innovations have been widely used in TE Connectivity around the world.

“The spirit of craftsmen is a kind of professional spirit,” said Hou Fanghua. In his view, the craftsman spirit means being dedicated, meticulous and innovative.
