There is a saying that you can never wake up a man who feigns sleep. But in Jinan, just turn off the air conditioner, then you make it.

There was no respite from the suffocating heat as many places across the country hit recorded temperature of over 40 degrees Celsius, according to the National Meteorological Center (NMC) on Monday.

Shandong Province continued to suffer from the scorching summer, with Zibo recording 40.9 degrees Celsius. On July 11, Binzhou and Zibo issued the red alerts for high temperatures while 7 cities of Shandong are on orange alerts.

Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, recorded temperatures above 37 degrees Celsius while some parts of the city registered even 40 degrees Celsius. It seems the heat wave will hover for a few days as temperatures in 8 cities of Shandong are expected to hit 37 degrees Celsius on July 12.

A weatherman of Shandong Metrological Center predicted the temperature would drop from July 14.

In addition, the Dog Days begin from July 12 to August 20, the hottest period of this summer.
