As the agricultural supply-side structural reform deepens in Shandong, gratifying results in agricultural and rural economy have been achieved. Yesterday, the Information Office of Shandong Provincial People's Government launched a press conference to brief the situations of modern agriculture development.

In recent years, the output of main agricultural products has seen steady growth driven by the supply-side structural reform in agriculture. The total output of grain has surpassed 90 billion jin (45 billion kilograms) for five years in a row, recording 94.014 jin (47.07 billion kilograms) last year.

As a big province in both agriculture and population, Shandong has been firmly implementing the planting strategy featuring green development, high yield and high efficiency, based on farmland development and technological application. The high-yield planting pilot covers an area of more than 18 million mu (12 hectares).

In 2014, Shandong took the lead in starting the plan of quality promotion of cultivated land. Since then, Shandong has input 70 million yuan in the plan annually and developed pilots in more than one hundred counties for soil improvement and remediation and other five projects.

By far, Shandong has conducted ecological energy programs in 131 counties and developed over 10 million mu of land above designated size for pilot bases. The comprehensive utilization rate of crop straw reached 87 percent while that rate of animal manure treatment was up to 73 percent.

Up to the end of 2015, over 95.9 percent villages (communities) with arable land and 98.1 percent of contract land have been registered; related statistics submitted by 95 counties conform to the national standard.

In the past three years, Shandong has forged 26 innovation teams for modern agriculture industrial technological system, basically realizing a full coverage of main agricultural products.

Above all, Shandong has put a great deal of efforts into the cultivation of new agricultural management body and the development of new industries and new business modes of processing, warehousing, transportation and ecommerce.
