Touch Shandong: foreigners have a sip of Chinese tea culture in Jining

Four foreigners, together with journalists of Touch Shandong visited Jining Confucius International School recently, where they learned how to make tea and got a better understanding of Chinese tea culture.

Touch Shandong is a cultural experience column fostered by sdchina.com. This time, the participants include foreigners from Pakistan, Serbia and Spain.

Miss Xu, a tea art specialist, explained every details about tea culture from the warming of teapots to the etiquette of tea-drinking. The four foreigners looked carefully at Miss Xu and tried their best to follow her. Finally, they mastered how to make Chinese tea after rounds of study.

Jack, from Pakistan, has been a teacher in Jining Confucius International School for four years. He can speak fluent Chinese. He told the reporter that in his country people usually drink milky tea. Very few people drink tea, especially the Chinese tea. Jack himself loves tea, black tea and green tea in particular. He got married in China. He is fond of traditional Chinese culture and hopes to stay in China.

China is a country with a long history and Jining is the birthplace of Confucius. Kevin, also from Pakistan, likes Jining very much. He felt a strong culture shock when he first came to China, yet through his efforts it is much better now.

Sam is a Serb. He told the reporter that there is no scented tea in his country. He planned to buy some Chinese tea and tea sets home to let his parents have a taste of the Chinese tea. In his perspective, China is an amazing country. He had experienced a different and beautiful life in China. He had fallen in love with Chinese culture and thought it was unique.

Ignacio comes from Spain. He has been in China for such a short time that he is curious about China’s traditional culture. He is also a teacher. Ignacio loves cooking and often cook sChinese dishes when he eats at home.
