Shandong allocates around 19b yuan for social security

To further improve its provincial social security, Shandong province has allocated 18.981 billion yuan to support some major social projects and ensure the implementation of policies concerning livelihood issues.

5.908 billion yuan for elderly care

5.908 billion yuan will be used to guarantee residents’ basic pension, speed up the transformation and upgrading of the elderly care industry as well as carry out the security policy for retired governmental personnel. Besides, part of the money is allocated for subsidies for senior residents and family with financial difficulties. Money will also be applied to support the construction of universities for aged people.

8.648 billion yuan for medical care

8.648 billion yuan has been allocated to tackle medical issues including the enhancement of governmental subsidy standard of residents' basic medical insurance,  the equalization of public health service and the improvement of urban and rural medical assistance . Shandong also plans to support the development of key medical and health services, push forward the comprehensive reform of public hospitals and carry out the essential drug system in grassroots as well as to secure the food and drug safety.

2.353 billion yuan for poverty alleviation

Part of the 2.353 billion yuan is set to be used to implement the security policy for rural and urban families living below the minimum living standard, orphans and children in special needs, vagrants and beggars as well as people in exceptional poverty. Living and nursing allowances will be granted for people with severe disabilities. Shandong also arranges money to develop various programs to help the handicapped.

In addition, Shandong has budgeted 2.072 billion yuan to boost employment and entrepreneurship as well as raise the level of talent construction.
