Shandong financial department has made great efforts on the development of tourist industry in 2016 to build Shandong a leading province of tourism. According to Shandong Financial Bureau, Shandong has spent up to 340 million yuan as the provincial-level special fund on tourism development.

The fund was used for boosting the healthy and rapid development of Shandong’s tourist industry in aspects including the tourist brand building of “Friendly Shandong”, the development of rural tourism, reconstruction of toilets in tourist areas as well as tourist public service and management.

It’s reported that a total of 200.7 billion yuan worth of tourism investment was completed in Shandong in 2016, growing by 27 percent year on year. Shandong has host more than 710 million visitors with an 8.7 percent year-on-year increase, who spent over 802 billion yuan, an increase of 13.6 percent year on year. Over 3,300 villages develop rural tourism on a large scale in Shandong and over 500,000 jobs have been created.
