The sixth session of the 12th Shandong Provincial People’s Congress was held on the morning of Feb. 6, 2017 in Shandong Hall.

Guo Shuqing, Governor of Shandong Province, delivered the work report on the session. According to the report, Shandong will spare no efforts to resolve excess capacity, carry out laws and regulations on security, environment, energy, quality and standard to the letter, and force the overcapacity of major industries like steel, coal, cement and chemistry to back out. Shandong plans to cut down the capacity of pig iron, crude steel and coal by 3.87 million tons, 2.8 million tons and 3.51 million tons respectively in 2017.

In addition, Shandong shall promote the capacity adjustments of Jinan Iron & Steel Group and the transformation and development of Shandong Iron & Steel Group, coordinating the reform and reorganization of the coal industry in the province.
