Shandong governor Guo Shuqing mentioned 27 brands by name to back them up targeting to build a powerful quality province in the government work report at the sixth session of the 12th Shandong Provincial People’s Congress this morning.

According to the report, efforts shall be made in general quality management, the construction of Shandong Standard and active participation in the development of national and international standards.

Guo said the protection of intellectual property should be strengthened and the tort and counterfeiting must be cracked down. Enterprises, government and community should work together to “polish the plaque of time-honored brands”, such as Tsingtao Beer, Dong’e E-jiao, Hongjitang, Dezhou Braised Chicken and Zhoucun Pancake. Efforts also should be made to help big brands, like Haier, Hisense, Inspur, Changyu, CNHTC and Shandong Ruyi, to win the market; to help agricultural products of geographical indication, including Yantai Apple, Rizhao Green Tea, Jinxiang Garlic, Tengzhou Potato, Laiwu Ginger, Heze Peony, Zhanhua Winter Jujube, Feicheng Peach and Hairy Crab of Yellow River Estuary, to boost sales; to help the developing brands, like Goertek, Himile, Dishang, Red Collar, Sunvim, Loftex and Gambol, to find their footholds in domestic and international markets.
